Life appears to me too short to be spent in nursing animosity or registering wrongs.  We are, and must be, one and all, burdened with faults in this world: but the time will soon come when, I trust, we shall put them off in putting off our corruptible bodies; when debasement and sin will fall from us with this cumbrous frame of flesh, and only the spark of the spirit will remain,—the impalpable principle of light and thought, pure as when it left the Creator to inspire the creature: whence it came it will return; perhaps again to be communicated to some being higher than man—perhaps to pass through gradations of glory, from the pale human soul to brighten to the seraph!  Surely it will never, on the contrary, be suffered to degenerate from man to fiend?  No; I cannot believe that: I hold another creed: which no one ever taught me, and which I seldom mention; but in which I delight, and to which I cling: for it extends hope to all: it makes Eternity a rest—a mighty home, not a
terror and an abyss.  Besides, with this creed, I can so clearly
distinguish between the criminal and his crime; I can so sincerely
forgive the first while I abhor the last: with this creed revenge never
worries my heart, degradation never too deeply disgusts me, injustice
never crushes me too low:
I live in calm, looking to the end.

You know what’s kind of beautiful?

In French, you don’t really say “I miss you.” You say “tu me manques,” which is closer to “you are missing from me.”

I love that. “You are missing from me.” You are a part of me, you are essential to my being. You are like a limb, or an organ, or blood. I cannot function without you.

Yeah it’s the same in German except you say “Du fehlst mir,” and it sounds like a death threat.

ett smultronställe

“smultronställe” is a Swedish word. “Smultron” is wild strawberry and “ställe” is place. A wild strawberry place, or ett smultronställe, is a nice secret place in nature that you go to be happy.

Proudly sporting the Reproductive Rights patch I grabbed at the Sex Ed. table on South. The “Genocide Awareness Project” has nothing on us. After listening to other students giving these cray cray people who compare abortion to genocide  their two cents, I’d say we have the better argument.

This is lovely :) I’m glad there’s a conversation about this at UMass Lowell, because Amherst doesn’t seem to have much of one. Though I confess I thought at first this was a picture of your butt with the patch sewn on the seat of your jeans.

Yes, yes, someone did their research.
This is true, I won’t argue it, but death isn’t evil or bad, and it comes to all of us at some point.
To say that death is negative is to ignore the beauty of life - without life, death is nothing; without death, life has no significance.
Ahem, anyway, that was my shower thought yesterday.

Death is natural, yes. But he KILLED that many people, last time I checked, killing someone is bad.

God taking someone from the Earth can be described as “killing,” but it’s not the same as a person killing because it’s done without ignorance - an all-knowing God transcending time and space has the knowledge that a person will die before, after, and during their death and knows how this death at the time and place determined will affect the course of history. God isn’t a person - God is a creative force that we as humans cannot endeavor to understand.

So since he is this “creative force” it is alright for him to commit mass genocide?
I’m sorry but that is rather flawed, no matter what you are, killing something isn’t right. Mind you that he didn’t just killed countless people, he killed countless children and babies while you are at it, it seems like to me that Satan is a stand up guy compared to this creative force called god.

Perhaps someday you’ll see it the way I do, perhaps not; I think it depends on your perception of death and God, and we clearly differ on this.
